Crepes and Cocktails

Evening Chicas!

In an effort to save a little money and truly go crazy at HIDEOUT (34 days and counting!) we have decided to go out less in London and start trying restaurants, cafes and more importantly bars local to us.

Crepes

If you live in Hampshire you'll most likely have heard of Odiham. If you subside in a different county; Odiham is a little village in the countryside within the county Hampshire. Odiham has a massive military base hence why those mahoosive chinooks fly over our house every hour (we live quite close by). Having said this it's such a cute, quiet village and the high street is so quaint, proper old school english village with thatched roofs and family run businesses. No massive co-operations in sight which is refreshing.

On this very high street there is a little cafe dedicated to Crepes; La Creperie which is where we spent the whole of Saturday morning. It was so charming and the staff were very welcoming and served us with a smile.

The cafe offers a selection of coffees, teas, baked treats and of course sweet and savoury pancakes!

Fun fact: The sweet are called Crêpes & the savoury Galettes.

Originally the thought of a savoury pancake frightened us - throwback to pancake day about 6 years ago when our mum tried to make some messed up dinner including pancakes and chicken stew. As you can imagine it did not go well and there was a full blown riot until the strawberry jam and cream was brought out thereby returning all order. Anyway I digress! Basically this lovely cafe COMPLETELY changed our opinion on the savoury option!

Our order

Savoyarde (Potato, onions, bacon and reblochon cheese)
Banana with caramel sauce crepe with vanilla ice-cream
Strawberry with chocolate sauce crepe with white chocolate ice-cream

Hot Choc with all the best bits

Classic Cappuccino
Pot of tea for one

It was a bit chilly so we stayed indoors but there's a table in the store front and a secret garden in the back. PLUS there is traditional French cider and wine so we will 100% be returning soon once the weather gets a lil warmer!

Cocktails

Now our week would not be complete with a few cocktails in the mix, pardon the pun. This week we went for a cheeky drink in Coal Grill & Bar, Basingstoke.

The drinks were actually lush and reasonably priced so we totally recommend and we'll definetly be coming back. The vibe was proper chilled and the bar staff loved the fact that we kept ordering from the 2 for 1 lol enablers?

BELLINI 8.00 the venetian classic, prosecco with peach schnapps & puree
APEROL SPRITZ 8.50 prosecco with aperol and soda water
GIN & CUCUMBER MARTINI 8.50 gin, liquor 43, lemon & sugar, muddled with fresh cucumber served straight up

Didn't manage to get a photo (living in the moment and all that jazz) but Lorraine recommends the Lynchburg lemonade if you like JD and Amy recommends the Raspberry and Gin Collins. Both are on the 2 for £8 deal too!!

We hope you had a lovely weekend too! Please leave a comment of any other little Hampshire treasures you recommend we should visit.
