Wildlife festival is based in Brighton City airport and was created by Disclosure and Rudimental in 2015.
We have been both in 2015 and 2016 so thought we'd give you a low down all the fun to be had and our experiences before this years festival takes place!!
Travel/Accommodation
BOOK YOUR HOTEL/AIRBNB EARLY
There are tons of Travel Lodges local to the festival and we recommend using one of the 4. We stayed in the Travel Lodge in Worthing - we snapped it up in January - cost us about £180 for the weekend for a double room. It was a large room, overlooked the sea (BARGAIN) and was 10mins walk to a supermarket.
We apologize for the awful quality but here's a snapchat we did of the Brighton coast. Beaut isn't it?! |
We totally recommend Worthing as a good place to stay not just Brighton. Worthing is actually closer to the airport and there's a shuttle stop from Worthing Central Train Station which is what we used. The main bonus if you do stay in Brighton is that there are a few after-parties run by some local clubs here.
Our friends used an Airbnb also in Worthing but it was quite a walk to the shuttle so we recommend looking at the shuttle stops and figuring out where you'd like to stay based on that.
Ticket types: Weekend, Day, VIP of both and shuttle bus options for all
Shuttle bus - TOTALLY RECOMMEND! In 2015 we tried to call a taxi and they were completely booked (waiting time 2hrs we were told!) so if you do decide to just take a taxi please book it in advance.
For all my lastminute people, you can buy shuttle bus tickets just before you board the bus but its a little pricier than getting the wristband in advance.
Our favourite stages
Big Top - In 2015 we saw MNEK, Snakehips and Tourist at this stage and their sets were a m a z i n g so we HAD to return in 2016! We were not dissapointed. Big Top showcased Mura Masa, Flume, SG Lewis and Julio Bashmore last year (just to name a few!) so as you can imagine this was always the first tent we hit up.
I love the atmosphere in here it's always such a nice crowd who just want to dance and no-one is pretentious or shoves to get a better space. The speakers are also such good quality, like you get the same amount of bass at the back of the tent but it also doesn't make you're ears bleed when at the front. Yes sometimes we full on fan girl and push to the front *sighs*
WHP Presents
Now if you know what WHP stands for you'll know exactly what kinda of genre and acts performed at this stage (virtual fist bump) but incase you don't it stands for Warehouse Project which is a warehouse club night curated in Manchester. The creme de la creme of the Techno, House and Electronic world perform here from September - New Years Day every year and it is an INSANE night, so the fact that the group had a stage down here in the festival we could not miss it! Not gonna lie we basically lived at this stage and by Sunday afternoon we were calling it 'home'.
Fave acts
2015
Disclosure - we have seen them 4 times, know the Caracal tracklist off by heart and they are ALWAYS on top form. Need we go on
MNEK - we looove this man, not only is he a super talented singer/songwriter but he's a babe in real life too. Amy spotted him in the crowd at main stage during Rudimental's closing set and we literally jumped the man. I'm sorry but how cute is this photo:
Snakehips - their remixes <3 It's a shame they didn't have more visuals and bigger decks though.
2016
Kaytranada - visuals were insane I'm talking psychedelic vibes
Carl Cox - we've seen him 3 times now and the man is a magician ma gawd
My Nu Leng - Lorraine is obsessed and the energy and crowd for their set was mad
Flume - viiiiibes, his set list was majority from his recent album Skin. Big Top stage was rammed so we found a little corner with space and danced our hearts out
DJ EZ - first time we'd seen him and we were soso impressed. His remixes of old classics are insane literally one minute we were getting down to some 90s r&b the next it was deep house - bootiful set and the visuals were perfect. Piers from Rudimental randomly came round to hand out funky 3D sunglasses which turned the lights into hearts hahaa hardly anyone recognised him which was hilar but we both just did :O faces at him as he disappeared into the crowd.
VIP
In 2015 we got standard tickets because it was the festival's first year and we weren't really sure what to expect so didn't want to pay extra for VIP with the risk of being dissapointed, however in 2016 we got merry one evening and decided we deserve nothing but the best and bought VIP upgrades *palm to face* BUUUUT IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT
So here are the perks of VIP:
Toilets with a mirror and quick moving queues if any at all!
Cool decor such as this beastly hammock and also you can get a photo with the lads (disclosure and rudimental)
Fast track entry - literally we were in within 5-10 minutes on both days hollaaa
No queues at the bar
Overall
We adore WILDLIFE festival. We took a gamble in 2015 to try out a brand new festival and it has totally paid off, we've been both years and don't see why 2017 should be any different! The overall vibe is chilled and it has such a diverse music range with stages offering acts of different genres. One minute we were listening to Ice Cube screaming fuck da popo the next raving hard to Carl Cox.
We hope this has helped give more insight if you were thinking about going and if you have any other questions please feel free to comment! Hopefully we'll see you on the dancefloor xxx
