Having just spent a long weekend in Barcelona, with only a few hours to cram the whole city in we were constantly using the metro (once we'd figured it out that is!)
Advice on metro:
My most importance advice for the metro is buy a T10 Card! Absolute lifesaver - only needed two for 4 days of gallivanting.
T10 Card in short is a train ticket which can be used 10 times and can be purchased at any metro station entrance.
All the machines have an english option which makes it super easy to use plus there are always attendants nearby to help a sister out especially in the bigger stations!
One ticket can be used by two people which is sooo convenient. Each of you pass it through the machine and it'll stamp the ticket with a number on the back. This is also useful when trying to figure out how many more journeys you have left on it!
Barcelona metro operating hours
Monday to Thursday: 5.00 am until midnight.
Fridays and eves of public holidays: 5.00 a 2.00 am.
Saturdays: from 5.00 am and runs all night.
Sundays: until midnight.
Public holidays during the week: midnight.
I would highly recommend figuring out exactly which sites, shops or restaurants you'd like to go to first even if just in the morning before you set off, followed by researching the closest metro stations to said location. This will save so much time! Even though the metro is super easy to use and figure out due to the colour scheme it'll save you time and stress knowing exactly which trains you need to get!
Here is a link to the metro map:
http://www.mapametrobarcelona.net/en-index.php - on the left hand side of this website there is also a specific tab for each metro line (labelled by colour) which is a lot simpler to understand that the main map I found!
Don't worry about timings between opening hours - the trains arrive so regularly!
I hope this has been a little bit of help for all of you lucky souls travelling to Barcelona and please feel free to ask any questions in the comments below!
