Entering and leaving Marrakech Menara Airport is definitely the opposite. We've dedicated this blog post to some tips and things we feel you need to be aware of if you do decide to visit Marrakech!

Arriving

To enter Morroco you'll need to complete a 'landing card' which will be given to you by the stewardesses on the flight. However if you're asleep or just to realise what's being handed out haha you can fill the sheet out right before immigration.
TIP - bring a pen in your hand luggage! We had to bat our eyelashes sweetly whilst asking our air steward for a pen and he acted like it was contraband when handing it to us haha

Brace yourself for quite a queue in immigration because all flights queue together. Don't stress if they ask you a few questions - it's at their discretion. Lorraine was asked what our hotel was called and Amy was asked if she was from London and if we were sisters lol

Lots of currency exchange available - may prefer to do it now because there is a limit on how much you can bring into the country AND some travel exchanges in uk will not allow you to exchage.
The limit is 2000 Morrocan Dirham
Departing

You need to fill out another landing card when leaving Morroco. You can get one at the check-in desk for your flight and you'll hand it in at immigration straight after you've been through security.
*
TIP - Arrive at the airport 3hrs before flight as opposed to the normally recommended 2hrs. This is because all passengers have to go to the check-in desk and have their passport checked EVEN IF you're not checking in a hold bag

Take photos its beautiful! Definitely up there in the most gorgeous architecture in an airport we've ever seen

This is a bit of an odd one but you cannot use Moroccan Dirham in the airport! You have to use Pounds, Euros or Dollars sooo if you have any currency leftover please exchange it in the airport OR try use it all during your holiday

There's a Starbucks in departures yaaas

Duty free is lush and has 50% vodka for less than £15 wow

Some great advice here. Arrive 3 hours early. Sometimes you breeze through check in others not so good. The security checks are constant and repetitive in long queues, in barely air conditioned areas. Your passport and luggage will be checked at least twice but if travelling to Gatwick often additional security checks will be done at the gate which takes an age. Morocco seems to be a harder country to leave than enter. Even after passport control expect a long queue just for a border guard to check a stamp they did less than 30 metres previous. Doesn't put me off I still love the country.
